This piece seemed as though it would turn out better in theory. The Trisha Brown Dance Company had done a piece that was published in last month’s ArtForum magazine in which they attached sweatshirts and sweatpants to a grid of heavy boating rope within their studio space. After the grid was assembled, the dancers climbed into the sweatshirts and pants and hung from them in the space. It looked amazing, and like something I wanted to try. This is a rough take on that, as well as a Charles Ray performance/photograph, in which is ties himself to a branch hanging parallel to the ground. I had hoped that there wouldn’t be quite so much space between me and the branches.
