This is a recent interactive piece from January 2010.  One of the other graduate students in my program curated a show at the 1419 space in Seven Corners.  I was very interested in green screen technology as well as karaoke.  I decided to combine the two with the programming software MAX/MSP/Jitter and create a piece.  I brought youtube into the mix, allowing the user to choose their own youtube video, while wearing a blue or green suit.  The youtube video was keyed into the suit while the user sang their selected song.  My thought process behind this came from a trip to Japan.  In the private karaoke rooms, there are videos that are played during different genres of songs.  Sometimes the same videos for vastly different songs.  But somehow these videos work.  I thought about the types of people that chose these songs, and the projection of their personality based on the songs they choose.  This idea evolved into the projection of the image onto their body which became the Chroma Key Karaoke project.
